The aim of the project was to investigate and map the entire Norwegian Cirripedia fauna, covering the complete coastline, including Svalbard.

Описание района исследования The study area covers the complete Norwegian coastline, including Svalbard. New sampling has been conducted in Hordaland, Sogn og Fjordane, the Oslofjord, and from Tromsø. Previously sampled material incorporated into the project, has been sampled in Svalbard, and scattered along the Norwegian coastline. The cirripede material held in all four Norwegian natural history museums have been investigated.[CN1] The collection in Tromsø mainly represents the North Norwegian coast including Svalbard. The University Museum of Bergen mainly covers the West Norwegian coast, in particular the West Norwegian fjords. The recently collected samples from the MAREANO project are part of the collection in Bergen, and give valuable information on the species distribution in the poorly sampled shelf region off the Norwegian coast. The zoological collections of Oslo and Trondheim add to good coverage of the entire Norwegian coastline.
